Little known fact: Though I consider myself a Kentucky gal, I was actually born in Florida, so my love of citrus comes honestly and naturally. Now that my home is no longer amidst the orange groves, it is always an incredibly thoughtful and enjoyable surprise to receive a crate of these lovelies from Nana each winter. Admittedly, we’re a bit envious that she’s oceanside in the sun, while we shiver in the Bluegrass each January through March…but the oranges somehow make it seem warmer and sunnier when they arrive. And make us think of Nana.
Note to self: send citrus more often. It’s always a treat and might brighten a dull day.
